When the band of ravenous ascetics arrived at her doorstep, Draupadi cast a worried look at her barren cupboards. She took up her empty cooking pot and fell upon the mercy of Krishna.
“I am you, and you are me, Lord Krishna,” declared Draupadi, hugging the pot to her breast. “Help me before they gnaw holes in the walls like termites!”
Krishna smiled, then produced a piece of cloth and unfurled it over the top of the pot.
Without even uncovering the vessel, Draupadi hurried back to the new arrivals.
She fed them, and the ascetics marveled at her faith.
