Summary: Vox hates it when he goes to Cannibal Town and sees Susan.
She was not who Vox had come to see, but she was the one here.
“Susan.”
The cannibal wrinkled her entire face at him, which would have been a feat for anyone else, but was a natural state of being for Susan. “Here for Rosie? Well, she’s not here for you! I came to see her first. Disgusting electrical thing!”
Vox’s smile twitched. He could kill her, but Rosie would be upset. And the table was set up as Vox knew she would set up for him. The tea leaves he actually didn’t mind sitting in their tins. Susan acted like this was for her and put her horrible fingers in to drop the leaves in the strainer, as she began to steep something in his cup.
“I can see she’s not here. I’m a little early for my app—”
“Just because you think you’re becoming powerful doesn’t mean anything! You know she could grind you into the dust if she had a mind to! Perhaps even that Alastor would do so!”
Susan was the perfect example of someone he could completely destroy, but it wouldn’t be worth it. He wasn’t sure why, because even Rosie didn’t like her, but Rosie wouldn’t want him to incinerate her for a week either. Surely it would be a week of beautiful silence, right?
As it was, Vox had to keep himself from blowing a gasket. Stupid bitch. “Regardless, when she arrives, I will want to tell her I’m here for our appointment.”
Susan sneered and picked through the selection of treats on the table and didn’t find anything she wanted. Maybe because Vox wasn’t a cannibal and this set up was for him.
“I don’t know why she bothers with you!”
Maybe he should walk outside and see if he could catch Rosie on her way in.
“You wouldn’t even taste good.”
One of the many reasons he wasn’t worried about hanging around Cannibal Town. Even if he wasn’t currently on Rosie’s good side, the cannibals all could tell that his mechanical components had overwhelmed any biological parts they would be happy to sink their teeth into.
“Tainted flesh.” Susan sniffed.
Vox used a word he hadn’t uttered in over ten years. Susan choked on nothing as her face went red. He stepped outside to wait for Rosie as she began to shriek.
It was worth it. At least he felt better.
