She felt somewhat apologetic as she felled the bird with the arrow. It felt a bit like cheating to dispatch it in this way. She wouldn't do the same to a human enemy. Those she would face and make use of the blade. None of these cowardly actions from a distance. They would know it was her. She would want them to know it was her and to remember why they were being punished. The bird was an innocent, but the girl was hungry. She would thank the old gods for the sacrifice and allowing her arrow to strike true.
