After their win, Kate had gone off with Joyce to get reacquainted. As Peter and the rest of the team headed off the court, a female reporter stopped to interview them. “Average Joe's story is sure to inspire people. Any thoughts on what you might do to follow this up?”
“Well, we've got quite a few things in the works, but we don't want to lay out all of our secrets right now,” said Peter.
“How about a little hint?” teased the reporter. She was cute and Peter wasn't immune to her charms.
“All I can tell you is that it involves some heavy duty hip action.”
The reporter made an interested noise.
“I could demonstrate. Maybe later if you'd like.”
Gordon interrupted. “If you're talking about us trying out for the National Hula-Hoop Competition, you can't practice here.”
“Thank you, Gordon, but I was-”
“It's against the law, you see. No public hula-hooping in Las Vegas.”
“I was thinking of something more private and more... theoretical,” Peter winked at the reporter.
“No time for that now, if we're going to be in the competition we have to qualify and we've only got two weeks to do that,” Gordon said.
“Well, let me have one night and we'll go hard at it tomorrow. Okay, Gordo?”
“Okay,” Gordon sounded disappointed, but was soon pulled away by the others.
“Hula-hooping?” asked the reporter.
“I figure we're going to conquer one obscure sport at a time. My technique could use some observation. Care to give me a hand?”
The reporter linked an arm through his. “I'd be happy to help.”
