Summary: Asta's thoughts during Sam's funeral
Asta was happy to see that nearly everyone in town turned out for Sam's funeral. It made sense- he had treated the ailments of the Patience residents (and a few from Jessup that didn't want to see a doctor in their hometown) for decades. He'd delivered babies, set broken bones, listened to complaints (both real and imaginary), and held the hands of friends who were taking their last breaths. There wasn't a life in town that he hadn't touched in some way or another, hers especially. He'd given her a job, taught her more about being a nurse than she'd learned in school, and wiped her tears on more than one occasion. She wished Sam could do that for her now. She took a deep breath and put on an air of confidence to let the people of Patience know that she'd uphold Sam's legacy for as long as they needed her.
