That shit is a fairy tale. Something they tell all the prisoners when they first come in expecting them to toe the line. Five minutes in the joint and you learn that good behavior will get you killed.

Oh, you could try to be nice. Try to play the game by their rules. Best bet is to get yourself some mellow shit to enhance your calm. No heroin, no crack, no PCP. That shit will have you acting out and get you sent to the hole so fast your head'll spin.

Maybe being sent to the hole is the way to go. You'd think there's nothing to do in there but good behavior, but could you stand being isolated for a week? A month? You'd go crazy. And what will that result in? Say it with me.

Bad behavior.

I'm telling you this now. Forget about acting a certain way. Do what you have to in order to survive. Maybe by the time your ass comes up for parole, you'll actually get out of here.
