Title: A Happier Timeline
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: G
Words: 200
Characters: Reva Sevander, Leia Organa, Yoda, OC Jedi
Relationships: Reva & Leia
Prompt: Family
Summary: In a timeline where the Jedi Order recovers from the war, Padawan Reva Sevander gets volunteered to entertain the younglings.
“Here to play a game with you, Padawan Sevander is,” Master Yoda told the group of younglings. Reva’s eyes went wide, since this was news to her.
“Master Yoda,” she began, but he was already gone with a mischievous cackle, leaving Reva alone with a gaggle of younglings about five or six years old, or equivalent to it, and more than a little out of her depth. Of course, she’d worked with younglings before, but not on her own!
“What game are we playing, Padawan Sevander?” a little rodian boy asked politely.
“Does it involve biting?” a human girl asked. “I’m very good at biting games; even Dalvaka was impressed and he’s a togruta.”
“Jedi shouldn’t brag, Leia,” a quarren girl admonished.
“I’m not bragging, it’s just true,” Leia argued back. “I can prove it...”
Reva held back a sigh. She loved her family, really, but sometimes the younger ones could be a bit much. “No biting anyone, Leia.”
Leia pouted, but met her eyes with a glint that made Reva think that Leia might just bite someone anyway as soon as Reva’s back was turned. This was to be a negotiation, then. Reva could do negotiations.
“How about this…?”
Title: Waiting
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: G
Words: 300
Characters: Darth Sidious
Relationships: N/A
Prompt: Power
Summary: Someday, Sidious will have everything, but for now, he is forced to wait.
Patience was a necessary tool, but frustration always nipped at its heels, threatening to topple everything Sidious had built should his control slip for a moment.
He bit it down, let it fester and sharpen into hatred to fuel him. If he could have struck down the source of his frustration in that moment, it would have been a powerful blow. Instead, he bent it to shape his focus, paying close attention to the Senators who opposed the vote to grant him additional powers. He would have to deal with them, reduce their influence in the Senate, or even rid himself of them entirely – but carefully, carefully. He could not overplay his hand and draw suspicion, or risk opening up a position to someone even more opposed to his goals.
Someday, he would no longer have to play along with these empty rituals. After all, the Senate would grant him the power he desired; even if not today. It was a pity they could not just dispense with the show and dance and simply recognize his power and accept his rightful control.
It was, deep down, what they wanted: a powerful figure to command them, to command their opponents, to smother dissent. Yet that same curious instinct would consciously reject anyone they saw seeking that position, would recoil from proof of superiority and attempt to destroy it out of envy. And so Sidious needed to play the reluctant hero and play the crowds until he could pull the words he needed from their mouths, the ideas only recognizable as their own.
The vote succeeded, but the frustration of waiting soured his victory.
One day, he would have the ultimate power over the galaxy. He would have everything, like the Sith of old.
And he would never have to wait again.
Title: Test me in these ways
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: G
Words: 300
Characters: OC Jedi
Relationships: N/A
Prompt: Dangerous
Summary: A padawan has a vision, but runs off to act on it without telling his master.
If he was quick, he’d be able to catch the pirates in the act of burying their stolen weapons. As long as he caught them, his master would understand why he’d dashed off from his post.
He sprinted into the wilderness, letting the Force guide him forward until…yes, there they were! Exactly as he’d seen in his vision. His lightsaber was lit in his hands as he jumped down to them, but he stuck mostly to kicks and a shove with the Force, the saber only a warning as he scattered the pirates from their prize.
A warning, and a convenient tool to take the top off of the weapons crate.
Only it wasn’t a weapons crate at all, just…rocks?
His distraction cost him. His lightsaber was knocked from his hand as he was slammed to the ground.
“Damn baby Jedi spoiled our false trail,” the fuming pirate growled, “I’ll make you pay for this!”
.
.
He didn’t look up at his master as he carefully applied bacta patches. But even though he certainly radiated embarrassment and misery, it wouldn’t arouse enough sympathy from her to save him from having to give an account of his mistakes.
“A premonition,” he managed. “I saw them, it was very clear. They were burying the crate, and I…” he trailed off.
“Padawan,” she said, without anger, but her disappointment cut sharper, “you know better. It’s dangerous to act hastily based on just a vision. Premonitions can offer useful insights, but they can also be misleading, even when they appear straightforward. Especially then. Time is a river of many currents, and the Force only gives us a glimpse of them.” She sighed, and added gently, “You will learn from this.”
“Yes, Master.” A hard-earned lesson was not one the padawan would easily forget.
Title: We're alone, underground, where we'll grown endlessly
Fandom: Miraculous Ladybug
Rating: G
Words: 100
Characters: Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Adrien Agreste
Relationships: Ladrien
Prompt: Serious
Summary: Hiding their relationship was the only way to stay safe.
Her moments with Adrien were sweet and thrilling, and while she wouldn’t trade them for the world, Marinette sometimes did wish she could just drop the transformation. Let him know that his girlfriend was right there, so that they could have more than stolen moments. Have a serious relationship.
Not that she wasn’t serious about it right now!
But they had to hide it, and that wasn’t fair to either of them, even if Adrien said he didn’t mind.
Someday, when it was safe, things would be different. For now, Marinette could only fantasize about that day in idle moments.
Title: Training
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: G
Words: 200
Characters: OC Jedi
Relationships: N/A
Prompt: Practice
Summary: A group of Jedi initiates learn to use and trust the Force.
“Focus, initiates.”
She shut her eyes tight again. Impatience had gotten the better of her last time, but she’d get it right this time! No matter how tempting it was to just sneak a peak to see if anything had actually lifted off the ground yet, if anyone had managed it before she had.
“You must be calm, at peace. Do not demand anything; simply let the Force guide you and you will be able to guide the Force.”
She didn’t know what that meant, really. But she could practice those breathing exercises the crechemaster had taught her to calm down with when she had a nightmare or got upset. She wasn’t upset now, but maybe it would work on being impatient and excited, too.
She slowed her breaths, focusing only on them. She almost forgot that they were trying to lift things with the Force, too, but when she remembered, she kept her breathing steady, not letting her eagerness get the better of her. Instead, she tried to expand her focus, tracking breath and blocks.
Breathe, lift. Lift, breathe.
She thought that she could really feel herself lifting the training blocks.
But she didn’t look.
Just trusted the Force.
Title: Relief
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: G
Words: 200
Characters: OC Jedi
Relationships: OC Jedi & OC Jedi
Prompt: Number
Summary: A Jedi comes home a bit worse for wear.
“You’re hurt!”
“It’s not that bad,” she said.
“Liar. I can see you limping.”
“Well, I’m conscious and not at risk of going into shock, so I’d say I could be doing a lot worse.”
“That’s a terrible standard. Something’s really done a number on your leg, you’ve got to get that seen now!”
“That’s the idea. Want to help me over there?”
Her friend took her arm, but still grumbled as she did, “Surely there was a medical facility closer than coming all the way back to the Temple!”
There had been, of course. But painful as her injury was, it wasn’t critical enough to make her stop at some random facility when she knew she could make it home. While other facilities weren’t terrible (well, usually. There were sketchy ones that would definitely get a little too curious about what the inside of a Jedi looked like), they were soaked with the past and present suffering of other beings. Even if a Jedi infirmary couldn’t fully avoid that, the surrounding community was a buffer, always reaching in with comfort and familiarity.
She didn’t explain, just let that impression hang between them. Her friend would grumble, but she understood.
Title: It's like war
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: G
Words: 200
Characters: OC Jedi
Relationships: N/A
Prompt: Poison
Summary: Temptation.
Doubt creeps at the edges. It says: this situation is slipping out of your control. You will not be able to resolve it to anyone’s satisfaction. You will lose everything you worked towards.
The poison doesn’t follow doubt. It’s always been there, quiet and still, until doubt raises its voice. An opportunist to the last. It says: You could take control. You could resolve it to your satisfaction. You will never lose anything, you will never fail.
Just a little bit, it lies. Just this once. Make it easier on yourself.
You might die if you don’t. And then what good will you have done?
It doesn’t sound evil. It doesn’t feel like the terrible deeds you’ve read about, like a futile and empty quest for power for power’s sake. It’s a means to an end, a good end. It will be worth it.
...the poison says.
Doubt isn’t its only friend. Exhaustion, frustration, impatience, and above all else, fear – these are the chisels that strike to bring the poison forth.
But you are a Jedi.
And though it feels like swimming upstream, you turn away from empty promises that sound so real.
The poison drains back into the dark.
Title: Preparing for a Presentation
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: G
Words: 100
Characters: OC Jedi
Relationships: N/A
Prompt: Hilarious
Summary: A padawan is preparing a presentation. Their master is less than impressed.
“Padawan, you’ve been given an incredible opportunity to present at a prestigious university. Please take this a bit more seriously.”
“So, you don’t like it, then?”
“You cannot go on stage and tell university students that we have access to the Force ‘through the power of friendship’. They will either think you’re mocking their intelligence, or that you’re crazy.”
“But it’s true, and hilarious.”
“That might be an appropriate way to explain the symbiosis between intelligent life and midichlorians to younglings, but not, again, university students.”
“I bet Master Yoda could get away with it.”
“You are not Master Yoda.”
Title: What Are Friends For?
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: G
Words: 100
Characters: OC Jedi
Relationships: OC Jedi & OC Jedi
Prompt: Colorful
Summary: A group of Jedi get together toembarrass celebrate their friend's knighting.
"There you are! I was starting to wonder if you’d gotten my comm.”
“What are you doing?” she asked, glancing down at the large… banner? stretched out on the floor. One of her friends was tracing out large letters, and another was filling them in with the most garish combination of colors any being could think of. She squinted at the colorful “CONGRATULATIONS” as if it would answer her.
“Well, you know that someone is getting knighted tomorrow, and we have to be prepared to celebrate! Help me paint this!”
“Isn’t this a bit too embarrassing?”
“What are friends for?”
Title: Trapped in the Dark
Fandom: Star Wars
Rating: G
Words: 200
Characters: OC, OC Jedi
Relationships: N/A
Prompt: Arrested
Summary: The victim of an illicit arrest is saved by a Jedi.
He gasped as a sharp pain ran up his leg, but gritted his teeth and continued dragging himself forward.
Some arrest, he thought. He wished they’d tried to keep up the pretense and stuck him in a cell instead of throwing him in this hole.
He supposed he should be grateful they hadn’t killed him, but he might die down here anyway, succumbing to his injuries or to hunger and thirst. He couldn’t even see where he was going, and there was no guarantee there was any other exit than the place they’d first tossed him in, and he’d slid so far down that he could no longer see any source of light. Even if he hadn’t been injured, there was no way he could’ve climbed back up.
Dragging himself became too much. Pain, exhaustion, hunger becoming overwhelming, and draining him to hopelessness.
He didn’t want to die here.
But on the edge of giving up, something changed.
It was dim at first, the reflection of a reflection around the twists and turns of the cave. But soon, a green light filled the space, and with it, a being in long robes stepped forward, holding out their hand to him.
