The cold feeling of rejection washed over Claire. She couldn't believe this was happening to her. They'd had a nice time. It started with a nice dinner at this little diner that he knew. Dinner moved to drinks- she didn't have too much, but just enough to leave her pleasantly buzzed. After that it was back to his place. She wasn't one of those girls who was going to play coy or hard to get. She liked sex. It was another great way to get to know someone. They slept together and he told her they'd have to do this again soon.
She thought he was different. She thought she'd finally found a nice guy. But he acted as if she was just somebody that he could walk away from and forget.
There were other ways of leaving an impression and Claire was about to leave a damn memorable one on Tim McManus.
