Title: Motivational Speech for a Team Before Game Seven
Fandom: NHL
Challenge: April 2023 Amnesty Round
Prompts: Waiting for, sunshine, champion, highlight, adult, quickly, exit, round, ordinary
Word Count: 195
Rating: G
Summary: It's do or die tonight
A/N: Sequel to Motivational Speech for a Team Down 2-0
"This is the moment we've been waiting for. Game Seven. I know many of you have imagined it back when you were kids, skating around a pond in the sunshine, pretending you were the one who would score the game-winning goal to become a Stanley Cup Champion and have them show your face on the highlight reels for years to come.
"You're an adult now and it's harder than you realize. Your body aches and you're playing an opponent who wants this just as much as you do. Maybe they want it more. But you can't let them have it. You can't. It's not in you to quit. It's not in any of us to go away. We could have given up after game two, decided to quickly exit the first round, and spend the rest of the summer healing from our wounds.
"But we didn't. And we haven't done that all season. We are a team that bounces back. We are a team that plays to the final whistle. We've had so many comebacks this season. Tonight, we have one more in us. One that allows us to play on.
"Let's get this done."
