It was Twelfth Night, almost a fortnight since Ebenezer Scrooge’s epiphany. He had promised to take Tiny Tim to a pantomime and was stopping by a sweetmeats stall to pick up a treat for the boy on his way to the Cratchit house when he overheard something.
Now, attend: Him that made it, didn’t want it! Him that bought it, did not use it! Him that used it, didn’t know it!
Scrooge paid for his purchase and hurried on. The riddle made him think of his vision of Things Yet to Come. He shivered. No coffin for him. Not yet.
